How to reach out to influencers (and get them to say yes)
Learn how to reach out to influencers and get them to say yes, with the email templates and real examples behind millions in partnerships.

Learning how to reach out to influencers the right way changed my business.
Most people send generic emails to influencers who have never heard of them, and immediately ask for favors.
When I reach out to influencers and creators, I do the opposite. I add value first and make it about them, not me.
This approach has helped me connect with hundreds of influencers and creators, including Ramit Sethi, Robert Greene, James Clear and Cal Newport. Over time, the relationships I built generated millions of dollars.
It's the method I taught in my course Connect With Your Heroes, and I still use it for every AI Creator Summit today.
In this guide, I'll show you my step-by-step process, the email templates I use, and real examples from my own inbox, from my very first interview in 2013 to the speaker invites I send in 2026.
Let's dive in.
Why should you reach out to influencers?
An influencer has something you can't buy: an audience that already trusts them.
When they recommend you, their people listen. That's why a single yes from the right person can do more for your business than months of ads.
I cover the full list of benefits (and 33 ways to earn that yes) in my guide on how to build relationships with influencers. This guide is about the moment you actually reach out.
How NOT to reach out to influencers
Nothing turns off an influencer like a poorly written pitch.
It's often your first personal contact with them, and every interaction is a reflection of your expertise and influence. If you send a bad pitch, they won't trust you or want to work with you.
These are the mistakes I see most:
- Asking for a favor before you've given anything
- Sending the same generic template to everyone
- Writing a long email about yourself instead of them
- Being vague about what you actually want
- Getting a detail about their work wrong because you didn't check
- Never following up after the first email
The good news? Every one of these is easy to fix. Here's how.
