Question 1

What is a LinkedIn post preview?

Accepted Answer

A LinkedIn post preview is a tool that shows your draft the way LinkedIn's feed will show it before you post. This one shows a phone and a laptop side by side, cut at the spot where LinkedIn adds "… more", with checks on where the cut falls.

Question 2

How do I preview a LinkedIn post before posting?

Accepted Answer

To preview a LinkedIn post before posting, paste your draft into the LinkedIn post preview. LinkedIn's own post box doesn't show where the feed will cut your post; the preview shows it on a phone and a laptop, the way LinkedIn does.

Question 3

How many lines show before "… more" on LinkedIn?

Accepted Answer

LinkedIn shows up to 3 lines of a post before "… more", on phones and laptops alike, and drops blank lines at the end of those 3. I measured it on LinkedIn's feed on September 26, 2026, across 15 posts. Ads show only 1 line.

Question 4

How many characters show before "… more" on LinkedIn?

Accepted Answer

About 160 characters show before "… more" on a phone, and about 230 on a laptop, measured in a browser with Apple's system font on ordinary sentences. LinkedIn cuts by lines, not characters, so the number moves with the device's font and your blank lines.

Question 5

Why is my LinkedIn post cut in a different place on my phone?

Accepted Answer

Your LinkedIn post is cut in a different place on your phone because the text column is 366 pixels wide on a phone and 526 on a laptop, at the same text size. The same 3 lines hold fewer words on the phone.

Question 6

Do blank lines count toward the lines LinkedIn shows?

Accepted Answer

Yes, a blank line inside the first 3 lines takes 1 of them. Blank lines at the end of the 3 don't count, so a 2-line paragraph followed by a blank line shows as 2 lines, with "… more" right after it.

Question 7

Can I preview a LinkedIn post with a photo, video or document?

Accepted Answer

Yes, you can add a photo, a video cover or a document's pages, and the preview shows them the way LinkedIn does: a photo edge to edge at its own shape up to 4:5, a video with a play button, and a document's pages side by side with the page count.

Question 8

Can the preview use my own LinkedIn name and photo?

Accepted Answer

Yes, paste your LinkedIn profile link and the preview fills in your name, headline and photo. If LinkedIn shows your profile only to members who are signed in, paste 1 of your posts instead: a public post always shows its author, headline included.

Question 9

Can I download the LinkedIn preview as an image?

Accepted Answer

Yes, press Download PNG under the phone or the laptop to save that preview as a sharp PNG, drawn at twice the pixels. It's made in your browser, so nothing is uploaded.

Question 10

Can I format my post with bold and italic here?

Accepted Answer

Yes, the LinkedIn post preview shares its box with the LinkedIn text formatter, so bold, italic, underline and lists are on the toolbar above your post.

Question 11

Who is the LinkedIn post preview for?

Accepted Answer

The LinkedIn post preview is for anyone who posts on LinkedIn and wants the opening to land: creators, founders, ghostwriters checking a post before a client approves it, and marketers testing hooks.

Question 12

What other free tools can I use for LinkedIn posts?

Accepted Answer

For LinkedIn posts, the LinkedIn text formatter makes bold and italic text, the LinkedIn character counter checks the 3,000 limit, and the LinkedIn video downloader saves a video from a public post. See all my free tools.

Question 13

Is my draft saved or sent anywhere?

Accepted Answer

No, your draft stays in your browser: the preview is drawn on your device and saved in this browser only. Filling in your name from a profile or post link asks LinkedIn for that 1 public page, through my site.

Question 14

Who made the LinkedIn post preview?

Accepted Answer

I did. I'm Navid Moazzez, and I made the LinkedIn post preview as one of my free tools on navid.me.
