Navid Moazzezby Navid Moazzez·Updated 3. okt. 2026·34 min read·

To make money fast, you need work you can start this week, on platforms that pay you in hours or days, not months.

The fastest money I've made online came on November 28, 2014: over $5,000 in one day, from my first virtual summit's all-access pass. I quit my bank job that day. But that day took a year of building first, so it's not what this guide is about.

This guide is about money you can have this week. Every way below shows what it pays, how fast the money reaches you, from the platform's own payout rules, and what you need to start.

In this guide, you'll learn:

  • What "fast" really means, and the three speeds money can reach you
  • How fast 22 platforms pay, from each one's own payout page
  • 38 ways to make money fast, sorted by how quickly they pay, each with what it pays, how to start and the mistakes to avoid
  • The fast-money scams to avoid
  • How to turn fast cash into money that keeps coming

Start with the ways that pay today, and keep one way from the slower groups going in the background.

key_takeaways.mdTL;DR

Key takeaways

The fastest money comes from selling what you own, or from work you can do today, like driving, delivery and local jobs.
Some apps pay the same day: Uber lets drivers cash out after every trip, and Lyft pays instantly after every ride to its own debit card.
Freelancing pays fast once you have a client: Fiverr says earnings are ready to withdraw once an order is complete, and a PayPal withdrawal takes 24 hours.
Any "fast money" job that asks you to pay first is a scam. Americans reported $15.9 billion lost to fraud in 2025 (FTC).
Fast money is short-term money. To earn more every month, build a skill or something you own on the side.

What does it mean to make money fast?

Making money fast means earning money you can spend within days. Two things decide how fast that is: how quickly you can start, and how quickly the platform pays you.

Money reaches you at one of three speeds:

  1. Today: cash for local work and things you sell, and apps with instant payouts, like Uber, Lyft and Instacart.
  2. Within a few days: marketplaces and research platforms that pay after a short hold, like Fiverr, eBay and Respondent.
  3. Within two weeks: platforms with weekly or two-week payout cycles, like Upwork, Rev and UserTesting.

Most gig apps check your background and documents before your first job, which can take a few days. Apply to two or three today, so one is ready when you need it.

The fastest money I've made, and what it took

That $5,000 day came from my first summit, The Branding Summit, which made over $20,000 in all. Here's the sales page from that week:

It looked fast, but it came from a year of blogging, interviews and building an email list. Fast money and lasting money are different things, and this guide gives you both: ways to get paid this week, and the ones that grow.

How fast each platform pays

Here's how soon the main platforms pay, at a glance:

The same day

Uber and Lyft pay after every trip, Instacart with Instant Cashout, and eBay and Stripe on demand.

Within 2 days

Airbnb pays the business day after check-in, Fiverr 24 hours after a completed order, and Respondent 48 hours after a session.

Every week

Outlier pays every Tuesday, Rev weekly, and Etsy weekly by default or daily if you choose it.

Within 2 weeks

Upwork pays 10 days after each work week, and UserTesting 14 days after each test.

Every month

TikTok pays on the 15th, Shutterstock by the 15th, and YouTube between the 21st and 26th.

After 2 months

Amazon KDP and Amazon Associates pay about 60 days after the end of the month.

And here are all 22, fastest first, from each platform's own payout page:

Ways to make money fast that pay today

These pay the same day: cash in hand for local work, or apps that send your earnings right after the job.

1. Sell things you already own

What it pays: whatever buyers pay for it, and nothing goes to a platform when you sell locally for cash.

How fast it pays: the moment a local buyer picks it up. On eBay, eligible sellers can take an on-demand payout that usually arrives within 30 minutes, for a $2 fee (eBay).

Clothes, electronics, furniture, tools and games you don't use are the fastest money most people have. Price them a little below similar listings and they sell faster.

It fits you if you have things you don't use and can meet buyers or ship.

How to start0/3

Tools: sell big items locally and small ones on eBay, Poshmark for clothes and Whatnot for live sales. Write listings with ChatGPT, and clean up photos with the product photo background remover.

Mistakes to avoid:

  • Accepting checks or "overpayments" from strangers. Take cash or an instant payment app.
  • Meeting at your home. Meet buyers in a busy public place.

Start: free · Time: under 5 hours a week · On camera: no · From anywhere: no · Experience: none needed · Paid: the same day

2. Drive with Uber

What it pays: a fare per trip plus tips. Employed taxi drivers in the US earn a median of $20.24 an hour (BLS, May 2025).

How fast it pays: Uber lets drivers cash out after every trip with Instant Pay, or take weekly deposits (Uber).

You can drive this evening once your account is approved, and cash out before you go to bed.

It fits you if you have a car that meets Uber's rules and a clean driving record.

How to start0/3

Tools: the Uber Driver app. Keep a simple log of your miles and costs, since they cut what you owe in taxes.

Mistakes to avoid:

  • Counting fares as profit. Gas, wear and taxes come out of every trip.
  • Driving at slow hours. Learn your city's rush times first.

Start: free · Time: under 5 hours a week · On camera: no · From anywhere: no · Experience: none needed · Paid: after every trip with Instant Pay · Age: your state's minimum to drive for Uber, with 1 year of driving experience, or 3 years if you're under 25

3. Drive with Lyft

What it pays: a fare per ride plus tips. Lyft caps its own fee at 30% of what passengers pay, and pays you an adjustment if it takes more in a month (Lyft).

How fast it pays: free instant payouts after every ride to the Lyft Direct debit card, Express Pay for a $1.75 fee, or weekly pay every Tuesday that arrives within two business days (Lyft).

Some drivers run Lyft and Uber at the same time to wait less between rides.

It fits you if you already drive for Uber or want a second app to stay busy.

How to start0/3

Tools: the Lyft Driver app and its debit card. A phone mount and charger make long evenings easier.

Mistakes to avoid:

  • Paying the Express Pay fee every day. The free debit card does the same job.
  • Skipping the insurance question. Ask your insurer how it covers app driving.

Start: free · Time: under 5 hours a week · On camera: no · From anywhere: no · Experience: none needed · Paid: after every ride to the Lyft Direct card

4. Shop and deliver with Instacart

What it pays: a fee per order plus tips, and you keep 100% of tips (Instacart).

How fast it pays: right away with Instant Cashout, or weekly by direct deposit for the week before (Instacart).

You pick orders in the app, shop for them and drive them over. You can do one order or ten, so it fits any free afternoon.

It fits you if you have a car, a smartphone and can lift heavy bags.

How to start0/3

Tools: the Instacart Shopper app. Track your mileage from your first order.

Mistakes to avoid:

  • Taking big orders far from home. They can pay less per hour than short ones nearby.
  • Forgetting your costs. Gas and taxes come out of what you earn.

Start: free · Time: under 5 hours a week · On camera: no · From anywhere: no · Experience: none needed · Paid: right away with Instant Cashout · Age: 18+ on Instacart

5. Deliver packages with Amazon Flex

What it pays: a set amount per delivery block, shown before you take it. Amazon says most Flex drivers earn $18 to $25 an hour, depending on where and when they drive (Amazon Flex).

How fast it starts: Amazon Flex has instant offers in some areas: delivery blocks that start 0 to 30 minutes after you accept them (Amazon Flex).

That makes it one of the quickest ways to start earning once you're approved, when you have a free hour and a car.

It fits you if you have a car with room for packages and want work you can grab on short notice.

How to start0/3

Tools: the Amazon Flex app and your phone's maps.

Mistakes to avoid:

  • Taking blocks far from the station. The drive there is unpaid.
  • Ignoring your car's costs. Work out what you keep per hour.

Start: free · Time: under 5 hours a week · On camera: no · From anywhere: no · Experience: none needed · Age: 21+ on Amazon Flex

6. Help people move

What it pays: an hourly rate. Employed hand laborers and movers in the US earn a median of $19.35 an hour (BLS, May 2025).

How fast it pays: when the job is done, in cash or by payment app if you find clients yourself.

Weekends are busy for moves, and a few hours of lifting pays the same day.

It fits you if you're strong, careful with furniture and free on weekend mornings.

How to start0/3

Tools: Taskrabbit, plus straps, gloves and a dolly.

Mistakes to avoid:

  • Lifting more than you can. An injury costs more than the job pays.
  • Pricing without asking about stairs and heavy pieces.

Start: free · Time: under 5 hours a week · On camera: no · From anywhere: no · Experience: none needed · Paid: when the job is done

7. Do yard work

It fits you if you like working outside and can get basic tools to the job.

Watch: Codie Sanchez on why pressure washing makes a strong small business.

  • Quoting without seeing the yard.

Start: a little money · Time: under 5 hours a week · On camera: no · From anywhere: no · Experience: none needed · Paid: when the job is done

It fits you if you're handy and own a good drill.

How to start0/3

Tools: Taskrabbit, a drill, a level and a stud finder.

Mistakes to avoid:

  • Taking work that needs a license where you live, like electrical or plumbing.
  • Guessing the time. Price per job once you know your speed.

Start: a little money · Time: under 5 hours a week · On camera: no · From anywhere: no · Experience: some helps · Paid: when the job is done

9. Clean homes

What it pays: a fee per clean or an hourly rate. Employed housekeeping cleaners in the US earn a median of $17.07 an hour (BLS, May 2025).

How fast it pays: when the clean is done, from the client.

Short-term rental hosts need a clean between guests, often at short notice, so you can get your first job fast.

It fits you if you're thorough and like physical work.

Watch: Codie Sanchez meets two 19-year-olds who started a window cleaning business with $0.

How to start0/3

Tools: a checklist in Notion, and Taskrabbit or local groups for clients.

It fits you if you love animals and live where people have pets.

How to start0/3

Tools: Rover and a simple flyer from Canva.

Mistakes to avoid:

  • Skipping the meet-and-greet before the first booking.

Watch: Chris Koerner on starting a mobile detailing business with $500.

How to start0/3

Mistakes to avoid:

  • Offering too many packages. Two clear options sell better.
  • Arriving without asking about water and power.

Start: a little money · Time: 5 to 15 hours a week · On camera: no · From anywhere: no · Experience: none needed · Paid: when the car is done

13. Rent out a room on Airbnb

What it pays: the nightly price you set, minus Airbnb's fee, which is 15.5% for most hosts under its single service fee (Airbnb).

A spare room can earn this month if your listing is ready and your area has travelers.

Watch: Codie Sanchez on what a tiny home can earn on Airbnb.

It fits you if you have one skill you can deliver in a day or two.

How to start0/3

Tools: Fiverr, and the Fiverr fee calculator to see what you keep.

Mistakes to avoid:

How to start0/3

Tools: Preply, plus Gemini to make quizzes and practice sheets.

Mistakes to avoid:

  • Teaching every subject. A clear subject and level books faster.

What surveys, cashback and game apps really pay

Apps that pay you to take surveys, watch ads or play games are real, but they pay in small amounts, often as points or gift cards you can cash out only after a minimum. That matches what Bankrate found: 28% of side hustlers make between $1 and $50 a month (Bankrate).

They're fine for spare minutes on your phone. If you need real money this week, an hour of delivery or one small freelance job pays more than a week of surveys, which is why they're not in the 38.

Fast-money scams to avoid

People who need money fast are who scammers look for:

reported lost to fraud by Americans in 2025
$0.0 billion
Reports to the FTC
lost to job and business opportunity scams in 2024
$0.0 million
Reports to the FTC

Walk away from any of these:

  • A job that asks you to pay for training, a starter kit or equipment first.
  • A task app where you deposit money to unlock bigger payouts.
  • A buyer who sends a check for more than the price and asks for the difference back.
  • A stranger who offers quick money for receiving or forwarding packages or payments.
  • A "guaranteed" return from crypto, trading or betting tips.

Real ways to make money fast never ask you to pay to get paid.
