What is an invoice generator?
An invoice generator fills in an invoice from your details, your client's and what you're billing.
It adds up the lines, the discount and the tax, and lays it all out as a PDF you can send.

What to put on an invoice
| Part | What it is |
|---|---|
| Your details | Business name, address, country, email, and your tax ID if you have one |
| Your client | Their name or company, address, country, email, and their tax ID for business clients |
| Invoice number | A number used only once, in order |
| Dates | The invoice date, the payment terms and when payment is due |
| Lines | What you did or sold, how many, the rate and the amount |
| Discount and tax | Any discount, and the tax you charge with its rate |
| Total | What the client pays |
| How to pay | Bank details or a payment link |
Some countries ask for more, like a company number or both sides' tax IDs. Check your tax office's rules for invoices before you send your first one.
How to number your invoices
Give every invoice its own number and never reuse one. A simple pattern works: INV-0001, INV-0002, and so on.
The generator keeps your pattern and moves to the next number when you start a new invoice, so INV-0009 becomes INV-0010.

Shorter terms get you paid sooner. Agree on them with your client before the work starts, and put them on every invoice.
Getting paid by clients abroad
When a client is in another country, how they pay matters as much as what they pay:
- Bill in the currency you want to receive, or in your client's, and check the numbers with the currency converter.
- Compare what each service takes to move the money with the money transfer comparison.
- Get paid into an account that holds several currencies. The business bank account finder shows which ones you can open.

Pick your country's type from the list, like VAT, EIN, GST, ABN or TRN, and the box shows its format.
Any currency, and the amounts are written the way your browser writes numbers.
Name the tax, like VAT, GST or sales tax, and put in its rate.
The generator adds it after any discount.
Net 30 means the client pays within 30 days of the invoice date.
Your details are saved in your browser, so they're there for your next invoice.
