A paragraph expander takes a short paragraph and writes it out longer, with more detail and explanation, and the same point.

This free paragraph expander writes three longer versions at once and keeps every fact in your text.

Each version shows how much longer it is than your original.

Key takeaways

Paste a paragraph and get three longer versions at once.
Every version keeps your facts and order, and adds explanation, never a new fact.
Pick what you're writing, and each version's numbers show next to real posts.
Each version shows how much longer it got and how human it reads.

What is a paragraph expander?

A paragraph expander is a tool that makes a paragraph longer by explaining what it says and why it matters.

It doesn't add facts you didn't give it.

How to expand a paragraph

How long a paragraph should be

The middle paragraph in the blog posts I measured has about 19 words, and in LinkedIn posts about 9.

If an expanded version runs far past that, split it into two paragraphs where the point changes.

A real example

Here's the blog paragraph from the Try button:

A newsletter gives you an audience you own. Social platforms can change and take your reach with them. Your list stays yours.

The three versions it wrote:

1
Length
159%
The longer paragraph
A newsletter gives you an audience you own. Unlike social platforms, which can shift or disappear, a newsletter keeps your reach firmly in your control. Your list stays yours, no matter what changes happen elsewhere.
2
Length
168%
The longer paragraph
A newsletter gives you an audience you own. Social platforms can change and take your reach with them, leaving you dependent on their rules. With a newsletter, the list remains yours, providing stable access to your readers.
3
Length
159%
The longer paragraph
A newsletter gives you an audience you own. While social platforms may evolve or disappear, they can also pull your reach away. Your list stays yours, ensuring you always have direct contact with your audience.

Each one explains why the list is yours and keeps your first line as it was. They read at grade 6.4 to 6.8, easier than the real blog posts' 7.6, and every one scored 100 for reading human.

Other ways to make a paragraph longer

The expander explains what you wrote. For a paragraph that says more, add what only you have:

  • A story – a moment from your own work that shows the point.
  • A number – with the source it came from.
  • A quote – from someone who knows the subject, credited.
  • The other side – when the point doesn't hold, and why.

Each of these makes the paragraph worth its length, which filler never does.

How each version is scored

Every version is checked in your browser the moment it comes back, with no AI:

  • Length – how long it is next to your original, as a percentage.
  • Reads human – the engine behind my AI slop checker, which counts the patterns that give AI writing away.
  • Real-post numbers – pick what you're writing, and its sentence length and reading grade show next to real blog posts, newsletters or LinkedIn and X posts I measured.

So you can pick the version that reads like a person and fits where it's going.

Who is the paragraph expander for?

It's for anyone whose paragraph is too thin:

And if a post comes in short, expand the paragraph that matters most rather than all of them.

Take it further

Want rewriting inside the apps you already write in, or a longer conversation about your text? These go further.

Paragraph expander FAQs

Questions about the paragraph expander? Here's what to know.

A paragraph expander is a tool that makes a paragraph longer by explaining what it says.

Yes, it's free with no sign-up.

Each person can expand 20 times a day.

No, it explains what's already there.

Names, numbers and examples stay yours to add.

Each version aims at about 60% longer than yours, and shows its length next to your original.

For more, expand the best version again or add an example of your own.

It expands your own text without adding anyone else's, so the words are yours.

I can't promise what a given checker will say, though.

No, it runs on this page in any browser, on a phone too.

The blog posts I measured have about 19 words in the middle paragraph.

Split a longer one where the point changes.
