Key takeaways
What is an affiliate commission calculator?
An affiliate commission calculator turns a program's commission into money: what you earn per sale, each month and over a year.
It knows the 3 ways programs pay: once per sale, every month for a set time, or every month for as long as the customer stays.
Who is the affiliate commission calculator for?
It's for creators, bloggers and newsletter writers deciding which programs to promote:
- Affiliate program finder – finding programs worth joining in your niche.
- Revenue health check – seeing how much of your income depends on one source.
- Pricing page teardown – checking how a product sells before you send people to it.
- How to make money online – where affiliate income fits among the other ways to earn.
The calculator runs in your browser, and your numbers stay on your device.

How the math works
A percent commission is the price times the percent. A flat one is the same amount every sale.
A recurring commission builds up: this month's customers pay you, and so do last month's, until they cancel or the program stops paying. Here's the example the calculator loads under Try an example:
| Step | Example |
|---|---|
| Commission | 30%, paid monthly for up to 24 months |
| Price a month | $29 |
| Commission a customer, a month | $8.70 |
| Sales a month | 10 |
| Months a customer stays | 12 |
| Your first month | $87 |
| Your 12th month | $1,044 |
| Your first year | $6,786 |
By month 12, the same 10 sales a month pay 12 times what they paid in month 1, because 12 months of customers are paying at once.
Once, recurring or lifetime?
- Best for
- High-priced products and courses
- Watch out for
- You start from zero every month
- Best for
- Software people keep paying for
- Watch out for
- It stops at the program's limit, often 12 or 24 months
- Best for
- Software with customers who stay for years
- Watch out for
- It's only worth it if customers really stay
A smaller recurring commission on a product people keep paying for often beats a bigger one-time payout within a year.
How to earn more from affiliate programs
- Promote products you use yourself, so your recommendation is real.
- Compare 2 or 3 programs in your niche here before you pick one to write about.
- Prefer recurring programs for software, and one-time programs for high-priced products.
- Check a program's cookie length and payout threshold in the affiliate program finder.
- Pair affiliate income with your own offers. The money model generator and my guide to a recurring revenue business help you build both.
Affiliate Commission Calculator FAQs
Questions about the affiliate commission calculator? Here's what to know.
An affiliate commission calculator turns a program's commission into money: what you earn per sale, each month and over a year.
Multiply the price by the commission percent, or take the flat amount a sale.
Then multiply by your sales a month, and for a recurring commission, by the months customers keep paying.
A recurring commission pays you every month the customer keeps paying.
Some programs stop after a set time, like 12 or 24 months, and some pay for life.
For software people keep paying for, recurring usually wins within a year.
For high-priced products people buy once, a one-time commission pays more up front.
They're each program's published terms, as listed in my affiliate program finder.
Terms change, so check the program's own page before you join.
