This free net worth tracker keeps a snapshot of your net worth each month and draws it on a chart, with your monthly pace, the date you'd reach your goal, and how you compare.
The comparing part is the fun part. You see your number against your country's median household and a ladder up to the world's richest people, with their faces.
I built it because a net worth calculator gives you 1 number, and 1 number tells you little. The trend is what tells you if your plan is working, and it's easier to keep going when you can see it.
Key takeaways
What is a net worth tracker?
A net worth tracker records your net worth over time. Each snapshot is what you own (cash, investments, your home, your car) minus what you owe (mortgage, loans, cards) on that day.
Line the snapshots up and you see your pace. That pace turns a far goal, like your first $1 million, into a date.
How to use the net worth tracker
You need a date and 2 totals for each snapshot.
Already used the net worth calculator? Bring its saved snapshots in with 1 click. Everything stays in your browser, and there's no share link, so your numbers never leave your device.
A worked example
Here's the example the tracker loads when you press Try an example: 12 monthly snapshots from October 2025 to September 2026.
| Date | Net worth |
|---|---|
| Oct 2025 | $42,000 |
| Jan 2026 | $50,400 |
| Apr 2026 | $73,300 |
| Jul 2026 | $89,200 |
| Sep 2026 | $99,300 |
Net worth rose $57,300, or 136%, in 11 months. January dipped from $52,600 to $50,400, which is normal: markets move, and bills come in lumps.
At about $5,206 a month, the $250,000 goal arrives around March 2029.
How you compare
This is where it gets fun.
Against your country
The OECD collects median household net wealth for 31 countries. In the US it was $165,700 in 2022, so the example is at 60% of the median household.
Against the richest
The ladder puts you beside 5 of Forbes's 2026 top 10, with their faces, from Warren Buffett's $149 billion to Elon Musk's $839 billion.
The bars use a log scale, where each step is 10 times the last, or you'd be invisible next to them.
At your pace
The tracker works out when you'd catch them. At the example's pace, Warren Buffett is about 2.4 million years away, and the first $1 million arrives around 2041.
Mistakes to avoid
These are the ways a net worth record stops being useful.
- Tracking on different days of the month, so a paycheck makes a month look better
- Valuing your car or home at what you paid, not what it's worth now
- Leaving out a card balance or a small loan
- Giving up after 1 down month
The compound interest calculator shows what your monthly savings grow into from here.
