This free word combiner takes up to 4 lists, combines them in every order you want, and gives you the result as plain keywords, Google Ads match types or URL slugs.
It all runs in your browser, so your lists never leave your computer.
Key takeaways
What is a word combiner?
A word combiner is a tool that joins every word from one list with every word from the others. It's also called a keyword combiner or a word merger.
People use it to plan keywords for ads and pages for programmatic SEO.
How to use the word combiner
A real example
Here's the Try an example button: 3 adjectives, 3 kinds of places to work, and 4 cities I know well, with the first list optional.
| List | Items |
|---|---|
| A (optional) | best, cheap, quiet |
| B | coworking, coliving, cafes to work from |
| C | in Lisbon, in Bali, in Medellín, in Chiang Mai |
That's 4 × 3 × 4, or 48 keywords, from "best coworking in Lisbon" to "cafes to work from in Chiang Mai". With slugs on, "cheap coliving in Medellín" becomes cheap-coliving-in-medellin, ready to be a page's address.
How many combinations you'll get
Multiply the number of items in each list. For example, 2 lists of 3 items and 1 of 4 give 36 combinations.
An optional list counts 1 more, for "left out", so the example above gives 4 × 3 × 4, or 48.
Every order of the lists multiplies the count again: by 6 for 3 lists and by 24 for 4. That's why the result can grow fast, so I stop at 100,000.
Use it for Google Ads match types
Google Ads reads a keyword's match type from how it's written. Its help page says:
- Broad match – the default, typed as is.
- Phrase match – "Put quotes around your keyword, such as \"tennis shoes\"."
- Exact match – "Use square brackets, such as [red shoe]."
Tick the types you want, and each keyword comes out once per type, ready to paste into Google Ads Editor.
Use it for programmatic SEO pages
Programmatic SEO builds many pages from 1 template and a list of data, like a page for each city and each kind of workspace.
The combinations are your list of pages, and the slugs are their addresses. Check each keyword has real searches before you build its page, and the SEO checker reads each page once it's live.
Tips for clean lists
A few habits keep the result usable:
- One idea per line – "in Bali" reads better than "Bali" in the middle of a keyword.
- Words that fit every pair – drop any item that reads badly with half the others.
- Optional lists for modifiers – "best" and "cheap" work as an optional list, so the plain keywords come out too.
Duplicates and extra spaces go on their own, so you don't need to clean those up.
Who is the word combiner for?
It's for anyone who builds keyword lists:
- SEO checker – anyone checking the pages they built from the list
- Title and meta checker – anyone writing each page's title and description
- Sitemap generator – anyone listing hundreds of new pages for Google
Combine the list here, then check every page you build from it.
