A rewording tool swaps the words in your text for new ones that mean the same, and keeps your sentences in their order.

This free rewording tool writes three versions at once. Any words you list stay exactly as they are.

Each version shows how many words changed, so you can see how far it went.

What is a rewording tool?

A rewording tool is a tool that changes the words and phrases in a text for fresh ones, and keeps its structure and meaning.

It's lighter than a full rewrite: your sentences stay in their order, at about the same length.

Rewording or paraphrasing?

Rewording swaps the words and keeps the sentences. Paraphrasing can change the sentences too, merging, splitting and reordering them.

Reword when the structure works and the wording doesn't. For a fuller rewrite, use the paraphrasing tool.

How each version is scored

Every version is checked in your browser the moment it comes back, with no AI:

  • Words changed – how much of your original wording it replaced, word by word.
  • Reads human – the engine behind my AI slop checker, which counts the patterns that give AI writing away.
  • Real-post numbers – pick what you're writing, and its sentence length and reading grade show next to real blog posts, newsletters or LinkedIn and X posts I measured.

So you can pick the version that reads like a person and fits where it's going.

A real example

Here's the product line from the Try button:

Our app helps small business owners send invoices faster, so they get paid on time and spend less time on paperwork.

The three versions changed between 29% and 76% of the words:

Our application enables small business owners to issue invoices more quickly, ensuring timely payments and reducing paperwork effort.
2

76%

The tool assists small business proprietors in dispatching invoices promptly, helping them receive payments on schedule while cutting down on administrative work.
3

This software allows small business owners to send out invoices faster, so they get paid promptly and spend less time handling paperwork.

The third is closest to the original and reads the most natural, while the second changes the most but reaches for stiffer words like "proprietors".

Is paraphrasing plagiarism?

Paraphrasing is fine when you credit the source. Purdue's writing lab calls a paraphrase "one legitimate way (when accompanied by accurate documentation) to borrow from a source".

So if the ideas came from someone else, cite them, even when every word is new. Rewriting your own writing needs no credit at all.

Will Google penalize reworded content?

Rewording your own writing is fine. Rewording someone else's to publish as yours is what Google's spam policies name.

Its policies list "copying content from other sites, modify it only slightly (for example, by substituting synonyms or using automated techniques), and republish it" as scraping.

So use a rewrite to say your own thing better, never to pass off someone else's page as a new one.

Who is the rewording tool for?

It's for anyone whose structure works but whose words don't:

And if you repeat the same word all through a page, a reword gives you fresh ones.

Take it further

Want rewriting inside the apps you already write in, or a longer conversation about your text? These go further.
