A free related searches tool that follows Google's related searches two levels deep, with how often each is searched and how hard it is to rank.
Type a keyword. I follow Google's related searches 2 levels deep, with how often each is searched and how hard it is to rank for, plus every suggestion Google gives for it.
Your keyword
Related searches are the searches Google lists at the bottom of its results, and they show where people go next after your keyword.
This free related searches tool follows them two levels deep, the related searches of your related searches, with how often each one is searched.
It also shows how hard each one is to rank for, and every suggestion Google gives for your keyword.
So here's what related searches are, how I read them, and how they turn into a list of posts to write.
Key takeaways
What is a related searches tool?
A related searches tool lists the searches Google relates to your keyword, and the ones related to those.
For every keyword, this one gives you two lists:
- Related searches, two levels deep – each with its level, the search it came from, searches a month, difficulty, cost per click, intent and the last 12 months.
- Google's suggestions – its autocomplete for your keyword and about 50 variations, grouped by what the searcher wants.
You can go one level deeper on a click, filter the list, sort it, copy it or download it as a CSV.
What are related searches?
Related searches are the searches Google shows near the bottom of its first page of results.
They come from what people search before and after your keyword, so they show where a topic goes next.
Google doesn't show the box on every page. In my lookups on October 1, 2026, two of the three live results pages I pulled had none.
That's why this tool reads them from DataForSEO's database of past results pages, which keeps the box from the days Google did show it.
An example: podcast microphone
For "podcast microphone" in the US, two levels of related searches gave 23 keywords.
These three stood out:
- Level
- 1
- Searches a month
- 4,400
- Difficulty
- 7
- Level
- 2
- Searches a month
- 6,600
- Difficulty
- 14
- Level
- 2
- Searches a month
- 720
- Difficulty
- 0
"Samson q2u" came from the related searches of "podcast microphone reddit", so it only shows up at the second level, and it's searched more than the keyword I started with.
How to use the related searches tool
It takes about a minute:
- Type your keyword. Short works best, like "podcast microphone".
- Pick your country. Related searches differ by country.
- Sort the list. Most searched first, easiest first, or by level.
- Go one level deeper. When you want the long tail, it follows them a third level.
- Copy or download them. Then group them into posts.
Google's suggestions come free straight away, and the related searches come from one lookup that stays free for anyone for a week.
How I turn related searches into posts
I sort by searches a month, then I sort the list into three piles:
- The same intent as my keyword – these go on the same page, as headings.
- A different question about the same topic – these get their own posts.
- A brand or product – these become comparisons or reviews.
Difficulty under 30 is where I start on a newer site.
For each post, check the title with the title and meta checker and the headline with the headline analyzer.
Who is the related searches tool for?
It's for anyone planning what to write next:
- How to start a blog – new bloggers picking their first topics
- Blog finder – writers checking who already covers a topic
- Headline analyzer – anyone turning a keyword into a headline
- SEO checker – site owners checking a page before it goes live
- How to make money blogging – bloggers who want posts that earn
And if one related search is bigger than your keyword, that's often the better post to write first.
Take it further
Then write the page
