What is a Gmail signature?
A Gmail signature is the block Gmail adds to the end of your emails: your name, your role and how to reach you.
You set it once in Gmail's settings, and it's added to new emails and replies.

Your Gmail signature on your phone
Gmail's help says: if you don't create a signature in the Gmail app, new messages use the signature you created on your computer.
So leave the app's mobile signature empty, and your emails from your phone carry your full signature, photo and links included. The app's own mobile signature is text only.
Why Gmail says your signature is too long
Gmail takes up to 10,000 characters in a signature, and images count toward it.
An image pasted straight into the box is the usual cause. The generator hosts your images and links them instead, and shows how many characters you've used.
Why images break in email signatures
Most broken signatures come down to 4 things:
- The image isn't hosted. Email apps show images from a link. An image pasted into the box can be dropped or counted against the size limit.
- The link is http. Apps block images that don't load over https.
- The format. Classic Outlook for Windows shows neither SVG nor WebP, according to Can I email. PNG and JPG show everywhere.
- The size. Gmail counts images toward its 10,000-character limit, and a wide banner overflows a phone.

Your signature in dark mode
Many email apps lighten dark text in dark mode. Images stay as they are.
So a black logo on a see-through background can disappear. The generator checks your photo and logo for this, and adds a white backing to your logo in 1 click.
