Type a site, a sitemap or an llms.txt address. I read its key pages and turn them into an Open Knowledge Format bundle, a folder of markdown files your AI agents can read, ready to download as a zip.

An OKF bundle turns your website into a folder of markdown files that an AI agent can read and follow.

This free OKF bundle generator reads your site's key pages and writes each one as a file in Google's Open Knowledge Format, with an index for every folder.

It checks the bundle against the spec and gives you a zip, with no sign-up and no daily limit.

Before you make one, it helps to know who actually reads OKF... and who doesn't.

Key takeaways

OKF is an open format from Google Cloud for knowledge as markdown files with YAML frontmatter, and its only required field is type.
Google Cloud published it on June 12, 2026. Version 0.2 followed on July 25 with trust fields.
Agents and Google Cloud's Knowledge Catalog read OKF bundles, but search engines and AI crawlers don't look for them on websites.
An llms.txt points AI tools to your pages, while an OKF bundle holds the content itself.
A bundle is conformant when every file has frontmatter with a type.

What is an OKF bundle generator?

An OKF bundle generator turns a website, a sitemap or a list of pages into a folder of Open Knowledge Format files.

You give it a source, pick 10, 25 or 100 pages, and it does three things:

  • Picks the key pages – the home page and the pages it links to first, so no one section fills the bundle.
  • Writes each page as a file – its main text as markdown, with frontmatter that says what it is and where it came from.
  • Checks and zips it – conformance with the spec, plus the pages worth a second look.

You can also paste your own text, which becomes a one-file bundle.

What is the Open Knowledge Format?

The Open Knowledge Format (OKF) is an open spec from Google Cloud for packaging knowledge as a folder of markdown files.

Google Cloud published it on June 12, 2026, to give AI agents a shared format for the context they need, instead of one locked in a single product.

Each file is one concept: a page, a table, a metric or a playbook.

It starts with a short block of YAML frontmatter, then free-form markdown:

FieldWhat it holds
typeThe kind of file, like Article, and the only required field
titleThe name to show
descriptionOne sentence about it
resourceThe address of the thing it describes
tagsShort labels for grouping

Version 0.2, published on July 25, 2026, added trust fields: who generated a file and when, its sources, who verified it, and when it goes stale.

So this generator fills in generated and sources on every file, which tells an agent each file came from your live page on a given day.

The two reserved files

Two filenames mean something special in any folder:

  • index.md – lists the folder's files, each with its description, so an agent sees what's there before opening anything.
  • log.md – a dated history of changes, newest first.

The generator writes both, with an index.md in every folder.

Who reads OKF bundles?

Agents read them, and so does Google Cloud's Knowledge Catalog, which Google updated to take in OKF and serve it to agents.

Search engines and AI crawlers don't.

The spec says to share a bundle as a git repository, a zip file or a folder inside a repository, and it names no web address for one. So nothing on the web goes looking for yours.

That's why I'd treat a bundle as a way to brief your own AI tools on your site, not as an SEO file.

OKF vs llms.txt

They do different jobs, and you can have both:

What it is
llms.txt
One file listing your key pages
OKF bundle
A folder with the pages' own text
Where it lives
llms.txt
yoursite.com/llms.txt
OKF bundle
A repository or your agent's project
Who reads it
llms.txt
AI tools that look for it on your site
OKF bundle
Agents you give it to

For AI search, make an llms.txt with the llms.txt generator and check your AI crawler access.

How to use the OKF bundle generator

It takes about a minute:

  1. Give it a source. Type an address, or switch to a list of pages or your own text.
  2. Pick how many pages. 10, 25 or 100, with the key pages first.
  3. Make the bundle. It reads the pages and shows every file as it builds.
  4. Review it. Open any file, and check the ones marked Little text or No description.
  5. Download the zip. Then put the folder where your agent works.

The left-out list says which pages stayed out and why, like login pages or pages past your limit.

How it builds each file

Every page becomes one markdown file, in a folder that matches its address:

  • The path – /articles/how-to-host-a-virtual-summit becomes articles/how-to-host-a-virtual-summit.md, and the home page becomes home.md.
  • The type – from the page's schema, like Article, Product, Course or FAQ, else Web Page.
  • The text – the page's main content as markdown, without the menu.
  • The links – links to other pages in the bundle point at their files, so an agent can follow them.

The menu links that appear on most pages are left out, since they say nothing about how two pages relate.

What makes a bundle conformant?

The spec's conformance rules are short:

  1. Every file except index.md and log.md starts with YAML frontmatter.
  2. That frontmatter has a type that isn't empty.
  3. Any index.md and log.md keep the shape the spec gives them.

That's all. A missing description or a broken link never makes a bundle fail, and the generator checks all three before you download.

Who is the OKF bundle generator for?

It's for anyone who wants their AI tools to know their site:

And if you build your own AI OS, a bundle of your site is a fast way to give it everything you've published.

OKF Bundle Generator FAQs

Questions about the Open Knowledge Format? Here's what to know.

It's a folder of markdown files in the Open Knowledge Format, each with YAML frontmatter that says what it is.

An index.md in each folder lists the files.

Google Cloud published it as an open spec on June 12, 2026.

The spec lives on GitHub, and anyone can use it.

No, search engines and AI crawlers don't look for OKF bundles on websites.

It's for agents you give it to, like a coding agent.

An llms.txt is one file at yoursite.com/llms.txt that lists your key pages for AI tools.

An OKF bundle is a folder with the pages' own text, for agents you give it to.

The spec recommends a git repository, and a zip or a folder in a repository works too.

For your own agents, put it in the project they work in.

It added trust fields: who generated a file and when, its sources, who verified it, and when it goes stale.

The generated field replaced the old timestamp.

Yes, it's free, with no sign-up and no daily limit.

It reads up to 100 pages a bundle.
