How to use the YouTube hashtag generator
YouTube's hashtag rules
These rules are YouTube's own, from its help page on hashtags (read September 27, 2026):

That's why the tool ticks up to 3: YouTube shows up to 3 by the title anyway. It ticks the topic's own hashtag and the ones 2 or more top videos share, never one only a single video uses.
It follows the second rule too: a video with more than 60 hashtags isn't counted, since YouTube ignores every hashtag on it.
Hashtags on nearly every video
Some hashtags, like #shorts, #viral and #fyp, sit on videos of every topic. They say little about your video, so the tool shows them faded and never picks them first.
