This free favicon generator turns your logo into every icon a website needs, in your browser: favicon.ico, the Apple touch icon, the Android icons and the manifest.
It writes the HTML to paste into your page, and shows your icon in a browser tab and on a phone before you upload anything.
Here's what each file is for, where the sizes come from, and how it compares with CloudConvert.

What is a favicon generator?
A favicon generator turns one picture, usually your logo, into the small icons browsers and phones show for your site.
The favicon sits in the browser tab, in bookmarks and in Google's search results. When someone saves your site to their phone, it's the app icon too.
The files you get
One logo becomes these files:

- Tells Android and Chrome where the icons are
The favicon.svg only comes when you drop an SVG. Browsers that read SVG icons use it at any size, and the others fall back to the ICO.
Every PNG goes through OxiPNG, which made them 30% to 75% smaller in my tests without changing a pixel.
Where each size comes from
Every size is the one its maker asks for:
- Google Search – Google's favicon guidelines ask for a square icon and recommend one bigger than 48 px. The 96 px PNG covers that.
- Apple – Apple's Safari guide names the file apple-touch-icon.png, at 180 px for iPhone.
- Chrome and Android – web.dev says Chrome needs a 192 px and a 512 px icon in the manifest.
- Android's shaped icons – the W3C's manifest spec keeps a circle 80% across safe from any mask. A logo sits inside it, and a photo fills the icon.
The phone icons get your background color behind your logo, so they never show see-through corners.
Sharp at 16 pixels
A favicon is shown tiny, so how it's made smaller matters. The tool resizes with Lanczos 3, the filter ImageMagick uses to shrink pictures.
I checked it on my own 512 px favicon: at 16, 32, 48 and 128 px, every pixel matched ImageMagick's, in Chrome and in Safari. An SVG logo is drawn fresh at each size, so it stays crisp.
See it before you upload
After you click Make, the tool shows your favicon in a browser tab, in light and dark mode.
It also shows the iPhone icon with its rounded corners and Android's round one. A logo that disappears on a dark tab is easy to spot here, before your visitors see it.
Compared with CloudConvert
I converted the same pictures to ICO with CloudConvert on September 30, 2026:
- This tool
- 16, 32 and 48 px
- CloudConvert
- 32 px only
- This tool
- Centered on a square
- CloudConvert
- 32 × 5 px, not square
- This tool
- In your browser
- CloudConvert
- On its servers, after an upload
CloudConvert makes the ICO file only. This tool makes the Apple and Android icons and the manifest too, and writes the HTML.
Add it to your site
Three steps put your favicon live:
- Upload – put every file from the ZIP in your site's main folder, next to your home page.
- Paste – copy the HTML into your page's head, or into your site's header settings.
- Reload – browsers keep an old favicon for a while, so a hard reload may be needed to see the new one.
Website builders have their own favicon setting. Upload icon-512.png there.
Pick the right picture
A few things make a favicon read well at 16 px:
- Square – a wide logo is centered with see-through space above and below it. Use your logo's mark, not the full wordmark.
- Big enough – 512 px or more, or an SVG. A smaller picture is enlarged for the 512 px icons and looks soft.
- Simple – fine detail and small text disappear in a browser tab. A bold shape reads best.
The tool warns you when a picture isn't square or is too small.
Nothing is uploaded
The tool runs in your browser, so your pictures never leave your computer. There's no account and no limit.
It makes every file in under 2 seconds, most of it spent making the PNGs smaller.
Who is the favicon generator for?
It's for anyone launching a site or giving one a new look:
- Website screenshot – site owners checking how a page looks
- SEO checker – marketers making a page ready for Google
- Schema generator – people adding the rest of a page's search setup
- DESIGN.md generator – designers writing down a brand's look
Freelancers use it to hand a client a finished set of icons with the code.

They're all free, in your browser, with no watermark.
