Here's what a logo background remover is, why this one doesn't use an AI model, how close it gets, and what it still gets wrong.
What is a logo background remover?
A logo background remover takes the plain background out from behind a logo, so the logo sits on any color or photo.
This one doesn't use an AI model. A logo sits on one flat color, so it finds that color, and works out every pixel's share of ink from it.
Why not an AI model
AI background removers are made for photos. On a logo, they guess at what the subject is.
Small parts go missing: a thin line, the hole in an O, the edges of small text.
Working from the colors gets those right. Here's how far each cutout was from the see-through original:

The AI models dropped the logo's thin rule, and left pale fringes on its small red text.
With another name in the logo, they also filled the ring's hole with white, and left a white patch over 3 letters.
Cutting out by color took 0.05 to 0.2 seconds a picture, and the AI models 11 to 18.
How I tested
I tested on September 29, 2026, with pictures where the right answer is known. I made each one from a see-through original, then scored both cutouts against that original.
The number is the mean error in see-through: 0% is a perfect copy. Lower is better.
How it works
It works in 4 steps, all from the colors:

| Find the background | For a logo, the most common color around its border. For a signature, the paper's color at every point, since a phone lights it unevenly |
| Level the paper | A signature's paper is turned even white, so a shadow in one corner doesn't read as ink |
| Work out the ink | How far each pixel is from the background tells how much ink covers it, so soft edges stay soft and letter holes stay open |
| Clean the colors | The background's tint comes out of every edge pixel, so there's no white halo on a dark page |
A red stroke next to a black one stays solid red, and a soft edge keeps its softness, so the logo looks right on any color.
What it still gets wrong
These are the logos it can't clean on its own:
- Parts the same color as the background – white text inside a badge on a white background goes see-through too. Touch up with Restore brings it back.
- Photos and gradients – a logo with a photo in it, or a background that fades, needs the image background remover instead.
- Busy backgrounds – it needs a plain background around the logo.
For everything else, the PNG is ready to use as it is.
