Here CloudConvert made smaller files, and this converter kept more of the picture: it scored 4.3 to 12.2 points higher. CloudConvert's photo scored 67.8, where the loss starts to show up close.
For smaller files, pick Balanced in the settings, and check the score on each.
How I tested
I tested on September 29, 2026. The PNGs were a Mac screenshot, a graphic from this site, Kodak test photo 23 and the PNG transparency demonstration from Wikimedia Commons.
The score is SSIMULACRA 2, a metric from Cloudinary that compares two pictures the way your eye does:
