What is a JPG compressor?
A JPG compressor saves a JPG photo again, at a lower quality, so the file gets smaller.
A JPG is already compressed, so the trick is stopping where the photo still looks the same. The score on each file tells you where that is.
Compared with CloudConvert
I compressed the same JPG photos here and with CloudConvert, at its default settings, and scored every result against its original:

At Balanced, this compressor lands where CloudConvert does: the portrait came out 159 KB at 78.0, against its 157 KB at 78.3.
High keeps photos closer to the original, with scores from 75 to 88.
The 6-megapixel golden retriever is hard to squeeze: Balanced and CloudConvert both scored 56 on it. High is the better choice for photos like it.
How I tested
I tested on September 29, 2026. The photos were a 29-megapixel golden retriever, the same photo at 6 megapixels, and a dark 6-megapixel portrait.
The score is SSIMULACRA 2, a metric from Cloudinary that compares two pictures the way your eye does:

Make big photos smaller first
A 29-megapixel photo has far more pixels than any screen shows.
Pick a max width in the settings, and it shrinks far more than compression alone can make it.
