What is a JPG to PNG converter?
A JPG to PNG converter turns a JPG image into a PNG file: the same picture, in a format that opens somewhere else.
This one works in your browser, and gives every file a score that shows how close it looks to the original.
When to convert JPG to PNG
Convert to PNG when you'll edit an image again, add transparency to it, or need a format an app asks for. PNG keeps every pixel, so editing doesn't add new loss.
Converting can't bring back detail a JPG already lost. And a PNG of a photo is much bigger than the JPG, often 4 to 8 times.

Both converters kept the photos exactly. This converter's PNGs were 13% to 16% smaller, packed tighter by OxiPNG, and all 3 scored 100.
CloudConvert's biggest PNG scored 96.2 instead of 100: it wasn't quite the same picture.
How I tested
I tested on September 29, 2026. The JPGs were a 29-megapixel golden retriever photo, the same photo at 6 megapixels, and a dark 6-megapixel portrait.
The score is SSIMULACRA 2, a metric from Cloudinary that compares two pictures the way your eye does:
