What is a PNG to SVG converter?
A PNG to SVG converter turns a picture made of pixels into one made of shapes.
It finds the areas of each color and draws their outlines as smooth curves. The result is an SVG file, which stays sharp at any size.
Why use an SVG?
An SVG draws with shapes and lines instead of pixels, so it's as sharp on a billboard as in a favicon.
A simple logo is often a smaller file as an SVG than as a PNG.
Websites, design apps, cutting machines and embroidery software all take SVGs. You can change their colors in any design app, too.

A photo never comes out as a copy of itself. To make a photo smaller, compress it instead.
Clean logos, not slivers
A PNG logo holds thousands of slightly different colors, from its soft edges and from compression.
Traced as it is, every one of those colors becomes a thin sliver of a shape.
So this converter first finds your logo's own few colors, and snaps every pixel to one of them. A gray edge between black and white only becomes black or white, never the red next door.
A small logo is traced at twice its size, so thin lines survive the smoothing.
Remove it takes the background color out everywhere, inside letters too, so there's no box behind your art.

On the sample logo, this converter made 86% fewer shapes, in a file less than half the size.
Drawn back and scored against the original, it came out 67.8 against CloudConvert's 52, and 67.5 against 43.7 on the blue logo.
The signature became 15 shapes instead of 410, because the paper's dust is left out. Photos came out as posters in both, with fewer shapes here.
How I tested
I tested on September 29, 2026, converting each picture here and with CloudConvert's API at its default settings.
Then I drew every SVG back at the picture's size and scored it against the original with ssimulacra2, the reference program that ships with JPEG XL:

A traced picture never scores like a compressed one, since every edge moves a little. So the scores only compare the 2 converters on the same logo.
I left them out for the signature and the photos, where they'd measure the dust and the poster look instead.
The 2 logos are samples I drew for testing, and the signature is Udham Singh's, a public domain scan from Wikimedia Commons.
