What is an AI music generator?
An AI music generator writes and performs a song from a short description. You say what you want, like "upbeat country with a male voice", and it makes the drums, the instruments and the singing.
Most of them charge a monthly plan. This one runs an open AI model, online on a free music server or on your own computer, so it costs you nothing.
How it works
It works in two steps. First it plans the song: the length, the tempo, the key, and where each line of your lyrics falls.
Then it makes the sound for that plan, the voice and every instrument together. The song comes out as a stereo file.
How to make a song
There are two ways to make one, Simple and Custom.
Not sure how to describe the sound? Click Improve my prompt: it rewrites a few words like "a bachata hit in Spanish" into the full sound the AI reads best, the genre's instruments, the voice and the mood, and Undo brings your words back.
Want a song like an artist you love? Type "a summer song like Bad Bunny", and the tool swaps the name for their sound: the genre, the voice and the instruments.
The AI never sees the name, so you get a new song in that style, not a copy.
Each song gets a free cover photo that fits its genre, with the photographer credited. Click Change cover to pick another one or upload your own.
Custom is for your own words. Write the style in the first box and your lyrics in the second, with a tag like [Verse] or [Chorus] above each part.
Under More settings you can set the tempo, the key, the time signature and a seed, and make two versions at once. Leave any of them on Auto, and the AI picks.
Remix or edit a song
Remix turns a song into a new style: upload it, or pick one you made here, and describe the new sound, like "jazz piano trio, upright bass, brushed drums". The slider sets how close it stays to the original.
In my test on a lo-fi beat, 85% close kept its melody and chords and made a convincing jazz trio. Lower lost the song, and higher lost the new style, so 85% is where it starts.
Edit changes one stretch and keeps the rest: pick where it starts and ends, and describe what that part should become, like "a saxophone solo". In my test the song outside the stretch stayed as it was.
In Custom, a reference song is optional: the new song follows its overall sound, not its melody. Upload only songs you made or have the rights to.
How long can a song be?
Pick a length from 30 seconds to 5 minutes, or leave it on auto and let the song find its own length. In my tests, a 5-minute instrumental came back in 28 seconds, and a 30-second song with lyrics in 32.
On your own computer, songs go up to 1 minute, since a longer one would take too long to make.
A song with lyrics needs enough words for its length. About four short lines make 30 seconds, so a 3-minute song wants two verses, a chorus sung twice, a bridge and an outro.

I tested On this computer on my MacBook Pro with an M1 Max and 32 GB of memory. After the first download, a 10-second piano piece took about 1 minute and a 30-second song with lyrics about 6 minutes.
A slower graphics card takes longer. The tool checks your browser first and tells you if it can't make songs there, and if a song stops partway, close other tabs and try a shorter one.

I had an AI listen to each song and grade it out of 10, the way a strict producer would. Of the 15, 12 scored 8 and three scored 7: the hip hop, the rock and the orchestral song, for a mix that sounds a little squashed.
None had glitches or cut-off words. Four of the songs with vocals were made twice, because the first versions went silent near the end until I let the tool pick each song's length.
How to write a prompt that sounds good
A good prompt reads like a producer's notes: the genre first, then the voice, the instruments and the mood. These are three prompts from the songs above, next to the kind of prompt that gives a flat result.

- List three to five instruments – the ones you'd hear first, like "log drums, shakers, guitar licks".
- Add one mood – calm, upbeat, dark or nostalgic, not all four.
- Name an artist if you like – "a summer song like Bad Bunny" works: the name becomes their genre, voice and instruments, and the song comes back new.

Before you write, decide the one feeling the song should leave, and the line people will sing back.
Use this structure, each tag on its own line:

[Outro] 1 or 2 lines
Rules:
- Short lines of 6 to 10 syllables, in simple words
- Rhyme the 2nd and 4th line of each part
- No names of real artists, songs or brands
Before you answer, check that every part has its tag, the chorus repeats word for word, and the song ends with [Outro].
How to write lyrics for it
Paste your own lyrics and mark each part with a tag on its own line: [Verse], [Chorus], [Bridge] and [Outro]. A verse and a chorus of four lines each make a song of about 1 to 2 minutes.
End with an [Outro], even a short one, so the song has somewhere to land. My first tests had no outro, and four of seven ended in silence or cut a line short.
For another language, write the lyrics in its own script, like Japanese in Japanese characters. Then name the language in your prompt too, as in "city pop in Japanese".

What not to do with AI music
These get songs taken down, or get you in trouble.
- Uploading it as a real artist's song – it misleads the people who hear it.
- Streaming it with fake plays – bought plays and bots break the rules of every major streaming service.
- Asking for another song's melody – copying a melody can still infringe that song's copyright, however it was made.
