What is a VPN?
A VPN, or virtual private network, sends your internet traffic through an encrypted tunnel to a server run by the VPN company. Sites then see the server's IP address instead of yours.
It keeps your traffic private on public Wi-Fi, like a café, an airport or a hotel. It also lets you connect through another country, for your bank or streaming at home while you travel.
A VPN doesn't make you anonymous: the VPN company sees your traffic instead of your internet provider, so whom you trust matters.
What makes a great VPN?
A good VPN gets a few things right:
- An audited no-logs policy – an outside firm has checked that it doesn't keep records of what you do
- An honest price – you know what it costs after the first term, not only the offer
- Enough devices – your laptop, phone and tablet on one account
- A money-back window – time to test it where you are
- Servers where you need them – near you for speed, and in your home country for banking
The comparison shows each of these for every VPN, from the provider's own pages.
My pick: NordVPN
I use NordVPN, so it's first on the page with a "Navid's pick" badge. That's my own setup: every VPN below it is sorted by the same numbers, and you can sort by price or devices.

Most VPNs sell a long first term at a low monthly price, then renew at a higher yearly price. The comparison shows both, so you can see the price after the offer ends.

Prices were read on September 29, 2026 and converted at the ECB's rate of 2026-09-29. The cheapest long plan was Private Internet Access at $2.04 a month for the first term.
Mullvad is the exception: €5 a month, the same for 1 month or 1 year, with no introductory price.

Windscribe and IVPN don't list a no-logs audit on the pages I read, so the comparison shows none.
What is a WebRTC leak?
WebRTC lets your browser make video calls, and to do that it can share your IP address with a site. If your VPN is on and your browser still shares your real address, that's a leak.
The check asks a public STUN server for your address, as a video call would, and compares it with the address sites see. It runs in your browser and nothing is stored.

It shows the IP addresses your browser shares through WebRTC, the technology behind video calls in the browser.
If one differs from the address sites see while your VPN is on, your real address may be leaking.
Most VPNs sell the first term at an introductory price and renew at their regular yearly price.
The comparison shows the renewal price where the provider's page states it.
