What is an Outlook signature?
An Outlook signature is the block Outlook adds to the end of your emails: your name, your role and how to reach you.
You can set different signatures for new messages and for replies and forwards.

Classic Outlook's 2 surprises
Classic Outlook for Windows draws email with its own engine, so 2 things work differently:
- No SVG or WebP. According to Can I email, it shows neither. The generator hosts your images as PNG or JPG.
- Signatures stay on the computer. Microsoft's help says signatures made there may not be available on another device. Set it up on each computer, or use new Outlook.
Why images break in email signatures
Most broken signatures come down to 4 things:
- The image isn't hosted. Email apps show images from a link. An image pasted into the box can be dropped or counted against the size limit.
- The link is http. Apps block images that don't load over https.
- The format. Classic Outlook for Windows shows neither SVG nor WebP, according to Can I email. PNG and JPG show everywhere.
- The size. Gmail counts images toward its 10,000-character limit, and a wide banner overflows a phone.
The generator hosts your photo, logo and banner as PNG or JPG on https, at twice the size they're shown, so they stay sharp on high-resolution screens.
Your signature in dark mode
Many email apps lighten dark text in dark mode. Images stay as they are.
So a black logo on a see-through background can disappear. The generator checks your photo and logo for this, and adds a white backing to your logo in 1 click.
