Here's how each platform ranks podcasts, why their charts disagree, and which shows top all three.
What is a top podcasts chart?
A top podcasts chart ranks the shows people listen to most, on one platform, in one country, right now.
Apple Podcasts, Spotify and YouTube each publish their own. And each one measures something different.
How Apple, Spotify and YouTube rank podcasts
Here's what each platform says its chart counts:

Apple refreshes its charts throughout the day. Spotify's chart site says it's updated daily, and YouTube updates its chart every Wednesday.
Why the three charts disagree
The same show can be #1 on one platform and missing from another. Here's the US on September 27, 2026:

That's the measures at work:
- Apple – counts follows and finished episodes, so a daily show with a loyal audience, like The Daily, sits at the top.
- Spotify – counts how many different people listen in a week, which rewards shows with a big, broad audience.
- YouTube – counts watch time, so long video shows like Financial Audit rank high, and audio-first shows often don't appear.
No single chart is "the" top podcasts list. Check all three before you call a show the biggest.
Shows on all three charts
On September 27, 2026, 16 shows were in the top 100 on all three platforms in the US. The Joe Rogan Experience led them: #5 on Apple Podcasts, #1 on Spotify and #8 on YouTube.
The tool lists them for your country under "On all three charts", best combined places first.
The three platforms share no show ID, so a show is matched by its name. The Diary Of A CEO with Steven Bartlett on Apple is the same show as The Diary Of A CEO on YouTube, for example.
Movement, days on the chart and best rank
Apple, Spotify and YouTube show today's chart only. This tool keeps every chart it reads, from September 27, 2026 on, so each show carries:
- Its move – up or down since the last chart, or new.
- Days on the chart – how many days it has been on this chart, or weeks on YouTube's.
- Its best place – the highest it has reached on this chart.
Spotify publishes its own moves, so they show from the first day. Apple's and YouTube's start with their second chart.
How to get your podcast on the charts
Each platform counts something different, so ask your listeners for what their app counts:
- Apple Podcasts – a follow, and listening to the end. Apple says ratings, reviews and shares don't count toward the charts.
- Spotify – listening every week. Its Top Podcasts chart counts weekly unique audience.
- YouTube – watch time on a playlist set as a podcast in YouTube Studio. Playlists of only clips or Shorts don't count.
A genre chart is the easiest first ranking. Apple ranks 200 shows in each of its 19 genres, so a Business or Technology chart is easier to reach than the top 200 overall.
