What is a countries visited map?
A countries visited map is a world map where you mark the countries you've been to, and it keeps the count for you.
This one counts against the world's 195 countries, splits your count by continent, and gives you a map to download and share.
How many countries are there in the world?
There are 195 countries in the world by the most common count: the 193 member states of the United Nations and its 2 observer states, Vatican City and Palestine.
Territories like Puerto Rico, Greenland or Hong Kong aren't in the 195. The map lets you add them, and counts them on their own line.
Countries by continent
The map groups countries into 5 continents, the UN's own regions. Here's how the 195 split:

Where it's easiest to add countries
Some regions let you add several countries on 1 trip. For a US passport, from Wikipedia's visa tables on September 26, 2026:

Countries and territories
Many places you'll visit aren't countries. Here are some territories people often mix up:
- Puerto Rico and Guam belong to the United States
- Greenland and the Faroe Islands belong to Denmark
- Hong Kong and Macau are part of China
- Gibraltar and Bermuda are British overseas territories
- Aruba and Curaçao are part of the Kingdom of the Netherlands
Add them anyway: they count on their own line, so your 195 stays honest.
