Question 1

What is a Wi-Fi spot?

Accepted Answer

It's a café, library, restaurant or bar where you can get online.

Some offer free Wi-Fi to anyone, and most are for customers.

Question 2

Where can I find free Wi-Fi near me?

Accepted Answer

Pick the place you're in, and turn on the free filter.

Libraries are often the best free option for a longer stay.

Question 3

Which cities have the most Wi-Fi spots?

Accepted Answer

Of these places, Barcelona, Paris, Prague, Chiang Mai and London have the most spots mapped with Wi-Fi.

The finder shows every spot for each place.

Question 4

Is public Wi-Fi safe?

Accepted Answer

It's safe enough with care, since others share the same network.

Use a VPN, check the network name with staff, and stick to HTTPS sites.

Question 5

How fast is the Wi-Fi at these spots?

Accepted Answer

The map doesn't hold speeds, so the finder never shows one it didn't measure.

Run the internet speed test at the spot to see.

Question 6

Where does the data come from?

Accepted Answer

It comes from OpenStreetMap, read 2026-09-30, under the ODbL.

Anyone can add a missing spot on openstreetmap.org.
