The 4 circles are Marc Winn's 2014 diagram, built on Andrés Zuzunaga's. Flow, moai and the 10 rules are from Ikigai by Héctor García and Francesc Miralles; the 5 pillars from Ken Mogi. All in our own words.

This free ikigai test helps you find where what you love, what you're good at, what the world needs and what you can be paid for overlap.

Most ikigai tests give you a type or an archetype. This one reads your own answers, shows which circle is missing, and checks your statement against your lists.

Here's what an ikigai test is, how this one works, and what you get at the end.

What is an ikigai test?

An ikigai test is a set of questions that helps you find your ikigai, the Japanese idea of a reason for being.

Most use the 4-circle ikigai diagram: what you love, what you're good at, what the world needs, and what you can be paid for.

This one adds what the book Ikigai says matters most in Japan: flow, your people and the small things that make a day good.

How to use the ikigai test

Find your ikigai0/5

It takes about 15 minutes for the full version, and 3 if you already have your lists.

Where the 4 circles come from

The 4-circle diagram isn't Japanese. Marc Winn drew it in 2014 on top of Andrés Zuzunaga's 2011 diagram of purpose.

It's still a useful map for work. So the test uses it, and adds the Japanese side from the books by Héctor García and Francesc Miralles, and by Ken Mogi.

I wrote the full story, with the 10 rules and my own ikigai, in what ikigai is and how to find yours.

What your reading shows

PartHow it's worked out
Your 4 circlesEvery item marked specific, or a label that needs a real example
The overlapsOnly items that really sit in both circles, confirmed by you
What's missingYour thinnest circle, and which of the 4 "almost ikigai" states you're closest to
Your flowWhat your flow activities share, from the book's own exercise
Your statementWho, what and how, no generic words, and how much of it comes from your lists

Nothing is guessed. Every line in the reading points back to something you wrote.

Your ikigai page

Your reading becomes a page of its own, with the same 3D chart you turn in the test. Visitors drag it around, hear each circle's note, and open any item to see its photo or video.

The page is one HTML file with nothing to load from anywhere else. It works on any host, and even opened straight from your computer.
