Mine goes 2 steps further. It checks whether each name is free on the platforms you pick and on .com, and it scores every name for what the account is for.

Every name gets a score out of 100, and you see each part of it. The parts weigh differently for a personal brand, a business and a creator:

A name that breaks a platform's rules is capped at 40, since you can't register it there. A platform I can't check counts as half free until you open its chip and see.
How I check if a name is free
For GitHub, YouTube and TikTok, I read the profile page itself: a missing page means the name is free. For .com, I ask the registry that runs .com.
Instagram, Threads, X, Twitch and Reddit hide profiles from checkers, so their chip opens the profile page for you. If the page says it isn't there, the name is free.
Username rules on each platform
Every platform has its own rules, from its own help pages. A name that breaks one shows it on that platform's chip.

What makes a good username
Keep it short: 6 to 12 characters is easy to remember and to type. Skip strings of numbers and years, since they read as "the good one was taken".
Use the same name everywhere you can. People find you faster when your handle matches on every platform and your website.
