This free HTML to Markdown converter turns HTML into clean Markdown: a full page, or a part you pasted from a site or an app.
Headings, links, lists, tables and code come through, and scripts, buttons and forms are left out. It all happens in your browser.
Here's what it keeps, what it leaves out, and how it did against MarkItDown and CloudConvert.
What is an HTML to Markdown converter?
An HTML to Markdown converter rewrites a page's tags as Markdown: # for a heading, - for a list item, | for a table.
You get the same content in a plain text file that's easy to read, edit and paste into AI apps.
What it keeps
It keeps the parts that carry meaning, as Markdown:
- Headings, bold and italic – as #, ** and _.
- Links and pictures – with their full addresses.
- Lists – nested lists stay nested, and numbered lists keep their numbers.
- Tables – every table becomes a Markdown table, merged cells included.
- Code – as a fenced block that names its language, like ```js.
Paste the result anywhere Markdown is read, and it looks the way the page did.
What it leaves out
Anything that isn't content: scripts, styles, forms, buttons, and hidden labels for screen readers.
It also drops edit links and copy buttons that sites put inside articles, so they don't turn up as stray words.

CloudConvert converts with pandoc, whose Markdown wraps a page's boxes in ::: markers that most Markdown readers show as text. MarkItDown's code blocks don't say their language.
