What Mailchimp counts
Mailchimp counts subscribed, unsubscribed and non-subscribed contacts toward your plan, and bills the month's peak.
So 5,000 subscribers and 1,000 unsubscribed contacts land on the 10,000-contact tier: $110 a month on Essentials instead of $75.
Archived, cleaned and pending contacts don't count toward the limit, according to Mailchimp's help center.
Mailchimp's send limits
Essentials lets you send 10 times your contact tier a month, Standard 12 times, and Premium 15 times.
The free plan covers 250 contacts and 500 sends a month, with no more than 250 a day.
What Mailchimp costs next to others
At 5,000 contacts emailed weekly, Mailchimp Essentials costs $75 a month. The cheapest other paid plan in the calculator is Systeme.io at $17.
Final thoughts on Mailchimp pricing
Mailchimp's price depends on more than your subscribers: it counts unsubscribed contacts, and your sends can push you up a tier.
