What is a domain checker?
A domain checker is a tool that reads a domain's public records and shows how it's registered and set up.
Mine reads the registry itself, so you see the real registration date, the registrar and the expiry, plus 9 checks on the setup.
How to check a domain
Where the answers come from
- Registration – the registry's RDAP, the lookup that replaced WHOIS. For the endings without it, like .io and .me, I ask the registry's WHOIS.
- DNS and email – the domain's DNS records, read over DNS over HTTPS.
- Host – the site's own answer first, then who owns its IP address.
- Certificate – the certificate the site shows on https.

How to fix what it finds
Most fixes are one switch: auto-renew and the transfer lock at your registrar, the free certificate at your host, and the SPF and DMARC records your email provider gives you.
