A word combiner merges lists of words into every combination of them, so 3 short lists become a long list of keywords in a second.

This free word combiner takes up to 4 lists, combines them in every order you want, and gives you the result as plain keywords, Google Ads match types or URL slugs.

It all runs in your browser, so your lists never leave your computer.

Key takeaways

Type up to 4 lists with one word or phrase per line, and get every combination at once.
Mark a list optional to also get the combinations without it.
Add Google Ads' "phrase" and [exact] match types, or a URL slug for each keyword.
Copy everything or download it as .txt or .csv, up to 100,000 lines.

What is a word combiner?

A word combiner is a tool that joins every word from one list with every word from the others. It's also called a keyword combiner or a word merger.

People use it to plan keywords for ads and pages for programmatic SEO.

A real example

Here's the Try an example button: 3 adjectives, 3 kinds of places to work, and 4 cities I know well, with the first list optional.

ListItems
A (optional)best, cheap, quiet
Bcoworking, coliving, cafes to work from
Cin Lisbon, in Bali, in Medellín, in Chiang Mai

That's 4 × 3 × 4, or 48 keywords, from "best coworking in Lisbon" to "cafes to work from in Chiang Mai". With slugs on, "cheap coliving in Medellín" becomes cheap-coliving-in-medellin, ready to be a page's address.

How many combinations you'll get

Multiply the number of items in each list. For example, 2 lists of 3 items and 1 of 4 give 36 combinations.

An optional list counts 1 more, for "left out", so the example above gives 4 × 3 × 4, or 48.

Every order of the lists multiplies the count again: by 6 for 3 lists and by 24 for 4. That's why the result can grow fast, so I stop at 100,000.

Use it for Google Ads match types

Google Ads reads a keyword's match type from how it's written. Its help page says:

  • Broad match – the default, typed as is.
  • Phrase match – "Put quotes around your keyword, such as \"tennis shoes\"."
  • Exact match – "Use square brackets, such as [red shoe]."

Tick the types you want, and each keyword comes out once per type, ready to paste into Google Ads Editor.

Use it for programmatic SEO pages

Programmatic SEO builds many pages from 1 template and a list of data, like a page for each city and each kind of workspace.

The combinations are your list of pages, and the slugs are their addresses. Check each keyword has real searches before you build its page, and the SEO checker reads each page once it's live.

Tips for clean lists

A few habits keep the result usable:

  • One idea per line – "in Bali" reads better than "Bali" in the middle of a keyword.
  • Words that fit every pair – drop any item that reads badly with half the others.
  • Optional lists for modifiers – "best" and "cheap" work as an optional list, so the plain keywords come out too.

Duplicates and extra spaces go on their own, so you don't need to clean those up.

Who is the word combiner for?

Word Combiner FAQs

Questions about the word combiner? Here's what to know.

A word combiner joins every word from one list with every word from the others.

It turns a few short lists into a long list of keywords or page titles.

Multiply the number of items in each list: 2 lists of 3 and 1 of 4 give 36.

An optional list adds 1 more to its count, and every order of the lists multiplies again.

It stops at 100,000 combinations, so your browser stays fast.

Shorten a list or untick every order to get under it.

Yes, press Add a list for a fourth.

Each list can have as many lines as you like.

Yes, tick "Also combine without this list" under it.

"best coworking in Lisbon" and "coworking in Lisbon" then both come out.

Tick Broad, "Phrase" or [Exact], or all 3.

Phrase adds quotes and exact adds square brackets, the way Google Ads reads them.

Yes, tick URL slugs, and each keyword gets one in lowercase with hyphens.

Accents go, so Medellín becomes medellin.

Yes, every line comes out once, and extra spaces go.

That's why the count can be lower than the lists multiplied.

Yes, tick every order of the lists, and B then A comes out as well as A then B.

Otherwise the lists combine in the order you typed them.

No, the word combiner runs entirely in your browser.

Nothing you type is sent anywhere.

Yes, it's free with no sign-up and no daily limit.
