This free age calculator gives your exact age in years, months and days, with the days you've lived, your next birthday, the weekday you were born on, and your life drawn in weeks.
Pick your date of birth, and it counts to today or to any date you choose.
I built it because most age calculators stop at a number. Seeing 13,288 days, or a grid of the weeks behind you and ahead of you, says more than "36".
Here's how age is counted, a worked example, and the round-number days worth a celebration.
Key takeaways
What is an age calculator?
An age calculator works out how long ago a date was, in years, months and days. It's your age when the date is your birthday.
This one adds the totals in other units, your next birthday, the weekday you were born on, and your round-number days.
How to use the age calculator
You only need your date of birth.
Nothing leaves your browser, and the link button shares the same dates with someone else.
A worked example
Here's the example the calculator loads when you press Try an example: a birthday of May 15, 1990, counted on October 1, 2026.
| Unit | Age |
|---|---|
| Years, months and days | 36 years, 4 months, 16 days |
| Months | 436 |
| Weeks | 1,898 |
| Days | 13,288 |
| Hours | 318,912 |
They were born on a Tuesday. Their next birthday is in 226 days, on a Saturday, when they turn 37.
The round-number days
A birthday comes once a year, and these days come once in a life.
Your 10,000th day
It falls at about 27 years and 4 months old. In the example, that was September 30, 2017.
Your 20,000th day
It falls at about 54 years and 9 months old, a good day for a longevity test.
Your life in weeks
The grid shows each week as a dot, a row a year. Most of the dots are still ahead when you're young, and that's the point of drawing it.
Mistakes to avoid
These are the ways age sums go wrong.
- Subtracting years without checking whether the birthday has passed
- Counting a month as 30 days for a birthday (that's the test-manual method)
- Forgetting leap years when counting days
- Using the wrong date format (05/10 is May 10 in the US and October 5 elsewhere)
For an age on a test or an assessment, the chronological age calculator uses the method test manuals ask for.
Who is the age calculator for?
It's for anyone curious about their age to the day, and these tools go further.
- Biological age calculator – for how old your body is
- Fitness age calculator – for how fit you are for your age
- Chronological age calculator – for an age on a test
- Longevity test – for the habits that add healthy years
- Retirement calculator – for the years after work
Pick your birthday, and find your next round-number day.
