What is a morning routine generator?
A morning routine generator turns your wake time, your minutes and your goals into a morning you can follow tomorrow. This one uses Morning Routine OS, the structure I follow myself: 10 blocks and 5 non-negotiables.
The 5 non-negotiables are waking up without the phone, water, movement, a few minutes for your mind, and something to learn. Every version keeps them, even the 30-minute one.

What 300 successful people do in the morning
Benjamin Spall and Michael Xander interviewed more than 300 people about their mornings for their site and their 2018 book, My Morning Routine. Their statistics page has the numbers.
| What the book found | Share of 300+ people |
|---|---|
| Up by 8:30am | 97% |
| Use an alarm | 70% |
| Check their phone right away | 60% |
| Drink water first | 57% |
| Check email right away | 48% |
| Snooze | 33% |
| Exercise | 78% |
| Meditate | 54% |
| Keep the same routine on weekends | 39% |
Their average person wakes up at 6:24am, goes to bed at 10:57pm and sleeps 7 hours and 29 minutes. And 60% still reach for the phone first.
Do you have to wake up at 5am?
No. The book's first point is that you don't need to be an early riser: your morning starts whenever you wake up.
Ali Abdaal tried a 5am routine once and went back to 7:30. Alex Hormozi's routine is a coffee and straight to work.

Why it checks in with you
The book's method is to add 1 thing at a time and give each 1 to 2 weeks before you judge it. That's hard to do from memory.
So each morning you tick what you did and rate your energy. After 7 days, your report says which steps to keep, tweak or drop.
Sahil Bloom aims for 90 to 95% of days, and Andrew Huberman's page says 85%. A missed morning isn't a setback.
- Changing everything at once – add 1 block a week instead.
- The phone in bed – it's the first thing 60% of the book's interviewees reach for.
- A routine longer than your morning – pick the minutes you really have.
- Copying a 4am routine when you need 8 hours of sleep – fit the wake time to your night.
- Judging a habit after 2 days – give it 1 to 2 weeks.
