What is a headshot background remover?
A headshot background remover takes the room, the wall or the street out from behind you in a portrait, and puts you on a clean background.
It's how a photo taken against a brick wall becomes a studio-style headshot on white or your brand color.

Hair, the hard part
Hair is where headshot cutouts go wrong: flyaway strands vanish, or a halo of the old wall stays around them.
This tool runs a second AI model over only the soft parts, hair and fine edges, and redraws them. Then it takes the old background's color out of every strand.
I scored it on 6 portraits against cutouts made by hand, hair by hair. It was closer than remove.bg's free result on all 6, with an edge error of 4.2% against 6.6%.

Which background color
A plain light background works almost anywhere: profiles, speaker pages, directories and ID-style photos.
A brand color makes a profile photo stand out in a feed. Pick Color, and paste your hex code.
See-through is for putting yourself on a design: a thumbnail, a slide or a virtual background.
Full size, for print
Your headshot comes back at every pixel you put in, up to 50 megapixels. The example is 2000 x 3000, and it comes back 2000 x 3000.
remove.bg's free download is a preview of 0.25 megapixels, too small for print.
What it still gets wrong
These are the headshots it finds hardest:
- Hair against the same color – dark hair on a dark wall, or blonde hair on a pale one, can lose its outer strands.
- Glasses – the lenses take on the old background, since they're see-through.
- Something in your hand – a blurry phone or mic in front of you can drop out.
Touch up fixes any of these by hand: paint with Restore to bring back what it missed, or Erase to clear what it kept.
